There are four races of people for this series technically. Three of which aren’t human but they co-exist with the humans and if one were to pass you on the street you wouldn’t know any different by just looking at them unless of course they show you why they’re different.
The first is called Greer. –
When a Greer reaches the age of twenty-two they can perform a ritual that will halt their aging and sometimes give them an ability. Each Greer is marked by a blue streak in their fringe. The ritual chooses whether or not it is in the better interest of the large scheme of the world to let them live longer. Sometimes the ritual will only slow down the person’s aging so they will still die. The abilities some of the Greer’s can get are different and sometimes similar. For example the head of the Greer’s is Cratus Kieragan Kilop. He has the ability to cast almost any kind of spell. His eldest child Elizabeth does not have an ability, but his second eldest child Alexander can take the form of a wolf at will.
The second race is called Seer. –
The Seer’s do not have to perform a ritual but on their twentieth birthday they will also become immortal. There is not as much known about the Seer’s as the Greer’s. (But as the author I’m giving you all inside knowledge) The Seer’s have always been a proud race as the head family can see glimpses of the future. They pride themselves on being a female run community as the females have more compassion than the males for any kind of mistake that gets made or anything else. The head of the Seer’s is Ceria Shiana Regus. All the Seer’s understood on their twentieth birthday that they shouldn’t interfere with the human world to much.
The third race is the Griffin. –
The Griffin’s were born when Cratus and Ceria agreed to marry to promote unity between the races that had been at war with each other for years. Together they had five children however Ceria died in childbirth to their youngest Ezinquil. More Seer’s and Greer’s started procreating together creating the Griffin’s. When a male Griffin reaches the age of twenty-two or twenty-four they can perform a ritual as well that will halt their aging and give them an ability, they also get increased knowledge of the earth and why they shouldn’t interfere with the human world more than completely necessary. Ezinquil became the leader for the Griffin’s.
All three races co-exist with the human world but do their best not to interfere too much as it would disrupt the balance of nature and time. They live on the sidelines of the world, after many years of survival and work most do not pick a job for modern times as it normally bores them easily. Very few human’s know of the existence of the Greer’s, Seer’s or Griffin’s. It is also believed that most Greer’s and Seer’s eventually passed away as they cannot be found these days. A few of the Griffin’s fought in World War I and after the war they slipped out of society to hide for at least twenty years so no one found out what they were. It was the same for those that joined the fight in World War II. They couldn’t be seen as heroes of war and not age. It was thought that they had gone MIA. All of those that fought in any war used an alias as told by Ezinquil.
The Griffin’s started as Cratus’ children. They are Elizabeth, Alexander, Jarek and Ezinquil. Ezinquil became the leader as Alex was to unstable to take on that kind of responsibility and Jarek couldn’t seem to stay still for more than five minutes. Each male is referred to as the yang and their female partner is the yin. They don’t get to choose whose yin or yang you are, that decision is up to the fates alone. They can reproduce with someone else but the males don’t tend to stick around if it isn’t their yin.
A Greer, Seer or Griffin can go three days without sleep but using their ability will make them tire easily. The longest they can last is seven days. If they do this then they will spend the next forty eight hours sleeping to regain their energy. Without performing their ritual a Greer or Griffin will die at the human age of thirty five as their bodies cannot handle the human aging process after that point. A Seer that does not chose to accept their fate will die at the age of thirty for the same reason.
While the the Greer, Seer and Griffin races co-exist with humans some do not wish to and enjoy living in a community of their own with other members of their races. Some of them choose not to settle down and spend their time roaming around the world. For the leaders of the Griffin’s they don’t really like when others go roaming as it is hard for them to keep track and know that anyone is not causing any trouble for the humans.
